The idea actually came from August issue of Everyday with Rachel Ray. The article stated that most kids don't make it past midnight. We laid out some sleeping bags, picked up movies from the library, and had plenty of games on hand.
The girls were so excited to stay up all night. They called Grandma and Grandpa in Glendora and cheered for staying up late. The girls had some Cinnamon & Sugar popcorn, watched a movie, and we made some bracelets and necklaces from string and paper napkins. Sophia and I played a short came of Monopoly until she was just too sleepy to carry on.
Serafin was the first to go to sleep. She made it till 8:30 that night. Sophia did manage to stay up past her dad. She almost made it to 11:00! The kids were a little cranky the next day, but Sophia did wash the dishes and paint my toenails so I'd say it was a win-win situation. The next night the kids went down with little fuss about bedtime.
