Mountain Biking In My Backyard

David has been exploring the area looking for some exciting mountain biking... It's been a big adjustment for him.  California has BIG Mountains with lots of loose dirt and desert flora to crash on.  Massachusetts is mainly flat with rocky trails filled with trees in packed soil to bounce off.

David misses the speed and flow of California riding vs the slower XC style riding in MA (mostly due to the fact that he has to pedal now and not simply coast down mountains).  Harold Parker State Park is close enough to ride regularly, but with the winter cold bearing down us he doesn't have much longer to ride outdoors on a mountain bike.  Winter training will consist of road riding on the few plowed bike paths and lots time logged on the stationary  bike.

Winter training should help with the overall conditioning leading to better technical skills for this new riding style.  Personally, I think he should just switch to Cyclocross, but those bike are really expensive.

Here David rides over planks to a rock wall
